9 July Evening Seminar on Sunstainable Construction: REGISTRATION CLOSED
Synopsis of Talk  In a global trend promoting the implementation of sustainable development policies, it is uneasy to discern today what is actually meaningful, efficient and effective when it comes to providing measures within the construction sector that would contribute to a better and healthier living of future generations. By looking at sustainable development origins, definitions and how it developed over the years to touch now significantly the construction sector, this lecture will provide a palette of choices taken by various organizations, locally and internationally when it comes to sustainable development and sustainable constructions in particular. The impact of sustainable development on the construction sector – while pragmatic and clear in Singapore – is impacting and will impact further projects, from their earliest stage up to the building performance after completion. The latter will inevitably become in the near future, a new phase to incorporate in contracts. This paper will attempt to deal as well with the contradictions faced by the professionals of the construction sector when they commit to embrace sustainable constructions policies.  About the Speaker Audrey Perez is a Civil Professional Engineer graduated from Ecole Special des Travaux Publics (ESTP) in Paris.
