Paul Maurice AndreeAs a member and passionate supporter of the CIOB, Paul had an international career which spanned the UK, Germany, Ireland and the United States. He believed in the challenge of achievement through hard work and application.Through distance learning he took the CIOB examinations whilst commuting between London and Germany. At the time of his death in November 1997 caused by a sailing accident, Paul had just completed a Postgraduate degree in Construction Refurbishment Management at University College London. He was posthumously awarded The Wates Award for MSc Outstanding Student and was about to embark on a Doctorate with the University of Reading. Paul was dedicated and passionate about his profession, the ideals of his Institute and his strong belief in continuing education. I am and shall always remain indebted to The Chartered Institute of Building for its willingness to inaugurate in 1998, an Award in my husband’s name. It is an honour to present The Paul Andree Memorial Award each year, not only in the memory of my husband, but as testimony to each individual’s hard work and sacrifices made in achieving their success. I wish you all good luck in your future endeavours. |
